Animation Re-targeting

The Problem

While scrolling through the mixamo library i didnt really seem to find any animations i would have liked for my boss to use for our boss fight. I ended up finding an animation pack on the unreal marketplace that i liked but one big issue. I had no idea how to make them work for the mixamo character model we were using.

The Solution

Fortunately the version of unreal engine we are using makes it very easy to re-target animations. After a couple of hours of learning how it works i finally understood what i had to do. Since all the animations that came from the unreal marketplace were mapped to the unreal mannequin all i had to do was select those animations and press the re-target animation button. then select the skeleton i wanted it to map to.  That auto created an IK rig that the animations would be able to export from. After that all i had to do was get the animations i wanted for my boss and highlight and export them, after that i was done.
